Thank you to all who have expressed their condolences to the Greig Family. I was blessed to have the greatest “Big Brother” any girl could have. That great guy gave me a sister-in-law Noreen of whim lost the “in law” years ago
and became my “sister”. Then came the awesome James AKA “Litte Don” ... a fantastic nephew and cousin to my sons. As all of you know Don was a protector and genuine great person.
Iwant to give you a glance into our childhood and what I see as heartwarming with the following story. ... I learned very quickly in life that my big brother Don was my protector and anchor in life. Beginning in 1963 Don watched over me, protected and made sure I knew that he was always right! When I think of all the memories that Don and I shared I am overwhelmed with pride. I want to share one of my earliest and most cherished memories. Don has always been a cat lover and in about 1968, his beloved “Blacky” went to kitty heaven. By this time, I too thought that cats were a necessity in life. Our mother and grandmother thought otherwise however. Well as luck would have it a tabby cat strayed to our farm. Don was determined that this cat, who he quickly named “Patty” would be ours to keep. His plan was great, except grandma was babysitting and had no time for the feline world. In his infamous wisdom and true big brother fashion Don instructed me to put the cat in the oven, fill the small blue bowl with milk for the cat to drink and then stand guard at the oven to ensure that grandma did not turn the oven on. Well mom and dad arrived home, grandma left, I got the nod to open the oven door and out jumped Patty and for the next 16 years Patty was ours! Don touched so many lives in his 59 years. He is often described as passionate, positive, giving, caring, loving and extremely proud of his family.
We’ll mourn the man who’s gone, whom we lost so tragically, but we’ll remember him, and remember that above all, he would want us to remember him as he lived life to the fullest and made each day a little bit better for all but especially for his kid sister. It is hard to imagine life without him. Love you forever Don!

To Noreen, James and all family of Don,
It is with such sadness that we heard of Don's passing! I just had a big long chat with Don in the Bigway days before we left for the south. Promises were made to get together down here on your upcoming visit in February! We are so sorry for your loss and for all of the Melita and area's loss! My fondest memories of Don include him at the back door of the flower shop in his rubber boots after chores, with little James by the hand , hurrying to get flowers for Mom before we closed.....Mother's Day, Christmas, Easter... always came and the two of them would pick a bouquet for Noreen/Mom. This went on for years until James was grown and came on his own! Marketing club meetings for Bryan where Don will be greatly missed. Our hearts go out to you. May you know how very much this community cared for and appreciated Don and take comfort that others share your loss and will always support you and be proud to have called him their friend.
Most sincerely
Bryan and Judy

Noreen, and family, sending our deepest sympathy to all of you. Farming is a way of life and we live with many risks everyday, never thinking a farm accident could take our life. We are so very sorry for your loss.

Noreen, James and the Greig Families,
As you deal with the loss of Don, please know that you are in our thoughts. Don was one of those rare people who treated everyone he met as a friend. Our community will miss him. May the memories that you have of him give you the strength that you will need to deal with his loss.

A very dear and wonderful friend has left us. I had the good fortune to know Don for over 50 years, in fact he was the first friend I made when I moved to Melita in 1968. Our thoughts are with you Noreen and James as well as the Greig, Elliott and Lewis families.
