Ada Leona (Sherman) Jones

Ada Leona Jones (nee Sherman) of Napinka, Manitoba passed away at the Melita Health Centre, Melita, Manitoba on Monday, December 9, 2024 at the age of 92 years. 

Ada was predeceased by her husband, Clarence (Red) Jones in 2016; daughter-in-law, Helen Jones; and parents, Keith & Allie Sherman (nee Lillico). 

She is survived by two sons; Neil (Jackie LeForte) and Murray (Heather); only daughter Marie (Brad) Tilbury; four grandchildren: Brent (Erin) Jones, Chad (Linda) Jones, Brittney (Graham) Stewart & Logan Tilbury; six great-grandchildren: Haedyn, Keiran, Anika, Liam, Caleb Jones & Max Stewart; brother Scott Sherman and many nieces & nephews.

Ada loved the farm life and worked hard alongside her husband Red doing everything from raising chickens, hauling grain, running for parts, taking meals to the field, milking cows, growing huge gardens and canning.  Ada was known for her many delicious recipes including her “melt in your mouth” homemade bread & buns, chocolate cake with caramel icing & Christmas Pudding.  Her kitchen was always open sharing her joy and friendship with many.  Ada was most proud of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and grand-puppies Jet and Jessie. 

A private interment will be held at the Napinka Cemetery at a later date.  Donations in memory of Ada may be given to the Napinka Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 101, Napinka, Manitoba R0M 1N0 c/o Mrs. Vicki Renwick.

Ada’s loving smile, caring heart and great sense of humor will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all who had the pleasure of being in her kitchen.                                         

We hold you close within our hearts
