Angus Lee Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Henry Caven Angus Lee (Gus) of Pierson, MB. at the age of 71. He passed away at the Willow View Care Home in Reston on Saturday, January 21, 2023 with his wife Joyce by his side.

Angus was born on September 26, 1951, second child and only son of Murray and Doreen Lee.  He attended Pierson School and completed a welding course at ACC in 1969. He married Joyce Plumb on September 4, 1971 and together they raised 2 daughters Carolyn and Becky.

Angus farmed with his father Murray for many years he also worked at the Edward Co-op as a fuel truck driver, Paterson elevator, school bus driver, and hired farm labourer for Carson’s in Lampman, SK and Maine Lee Farms in Pierson.  Farming was his passion and he always found his way back to it.

An active member of the community Angus was a long time member of the Lion’s club acting a president and secretary over the years.  He was a member of the Fire Department, played hockey and curled, coached hockey and ball and even volleyball when a coach couldn’t be found.  He and Joyce enjoyed doing sound and lights for the drama theatre, but never to be found on the stage.

Angus and Joyce enjoyed watching their girls play sports and eventually following the grandkids to their activities. In 2017, along with his sister Angie and Ted, they took his dream trip to Scotland to see where his Dad was born, see the homestead and meet family.  They found their happy place down at Mouse River Park and planned to spend their retirement years there where they enjoy camping, dancing and socializing, making many special lifelong friends.

Angus was predeceased by his parents, Murray and Doreen Lee; parents-in-law, John and Norah Plumb; sister-in-law, Elaine Armstrong; nieces, Kerry Ann and Genna.

Angus is survived by Joyce, his loving wife of 51 years; his daughter, Carolyn (TJ) Eagles, granddaughters, Kennedy, Emily, Madison; daughter, Becky (Daniel) Riddell, grandchildren, Peyton and Easton; sisters, Donna (Bill) Nichols, Judy (Ken) Wray, Vickie (Earle) Paton, and Angela (Edward) Plumb; sister-in-law, Bev (Charles) Armstrong; brother-in-law, Neil Armstrong as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Dad was always a person you could rely on and be by your side at a moment’s notice, keep you accountable for your actions, comfort you in your sadness and tell you to suck it up and get it done when it was needed.  He taught us good work ethic and the pride of an honest days work. Never one to sit too long he was always puttering outside or in his shop.  He loved to be outside. You could always count on him for a dance when a good song came on even in you where in the kitchen.  Even to his last days he could be found tapping his toes and shuffling a dance down the hall.

Our loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend you will be dearly missed and the emptiness in our hearts will never be filled.

Rest peacefully and until we meet again, save us a dance.

A service to celebrate Angus' life was held at the Pierson Community Hall, Pierson, MB. on Friday, January 27, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with (rev.) Heather Sandilands officiating. Interment took place at the Pierson Cemetery.
