Barbara Jean (Holden) Gray passed away peacefully at the Virden Health Centre, Virden, MB. with family by her side on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at the age of 71.
Barbara was born on May 11, 1949 at Mrs. Mainland’s Nursing Home in Melita, MB. to George and Elma Holden. She grew up on the family farm near Napinka. Throughout the years Barbara had a variety of jobs including waitressing, telephone operator, house cleaning and after twenty four years as a Health Care Aide she retired from the Virden Hospital in 2014. In later years, she enjoyed spending time down at the barn helping her husband John with horses and camping trips with him and their dog Rocky.
Family was everything to Barbara. Her two children and three grandkids were her pride and joy. She enjoyed time spent attending birthday parties, school functions, graduations and family gatherings. She also enjoyed many Bugg family reunions in Napinka.
Barbara will always be remembered for the smile on her face. She was a “mom” to many and always had time for a coffee and a visit.
Barbara will be fondly remembered by her daughter, Tanya (Derek) Smart; son, Ryan (Pam) Sobry; grandchildren, Tyson Smart, Brooklyn Smart, and Sophia Sobry; brother, Ron (Yvette) Holden; sister, Beth (Burt) Elliott; nephew, Bob (Nicole) Elliott and family; niece, Deanna (Derek) Evans and family.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Gray (2020); parents, George and Elma (Bugg) Holden; sister-in-law, Lucy Holden; mother-in-law, Lillian Gray-Kilford; sister-in-law, Edith Hayward.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Virden Cemetery.
