Connie Forsyth Obituary

Mrs. Connie Forsyth of Carlyle, formerly of Oxbow, passed away peacefully at the Moose Mountain Lodge, Carlyle on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at the age of 86.

On June 20, 1936, Harry and Isabel Truscott welcomed their 6th child Connie Isabel Bertha Truscott into their large and loving family.  Connie completed her schooling in Alameda and took her Theory in Nurses Training at Regina College.  She returned to Oxbow and worked as a nurse’s aide in Oxbow Hospital for many years where many in the community remember her as a kind and gentle caregiver.  On Nov. 23, 1957, Connie married Norman Forsyth.  They had three children: Tammy Lee, Mark Scott, and Bradley David.

Connie was a hard worker no matter what hat she wore, whether in the McLeods store or Dairyland or carpet cleaning.

Gardener extraordinaire, she shared her bounty with family and friends.  Her tomatoes were legendary!

Working long nights at the hospital she took up crocheting.  Many, many afghans (too many to count) went to family and friends and were used as fundraisers!

Connie nursed her mom, Grandma Belle, for many years.  She was very close to her family and missed them all very much.  We have comfort in knowing she is with those she loved.

Her last few years were spent at the Moose Mountain Lodge in Carlyle where she acquired a new family!  Even though her mind had failed, her gentle caregiver spirit remained as she was often trying to help others.  She especially enjoyed visits from her great grandchildren who know her as GG.  They always brought a smile to her face.

Her family would like to thank everyone for their memories, kind words and donations.  We would also like to thank the staff at Moose Mountain Lodge and Galloway Health Centre for caring for Mom over the last few years.  Her journey wasn’t an easy one and we appreciate all you did for her.

Connie is survived by her daughter, Tammy Dalziel (Trevor) and their four daughters, Lindsay Cochran (Greg) (children, Bria and Celeste), Chelsea Corrigan (Jayson) (children, Finn and Kit), Briana Grimes (Cory Veroba) (son, Jack), Brittany Dalziel (Colby Ruschfeldt); son, Mark Forsyth (Wanda) and their children Candy and Colin (Kendra) (children, Wyatt and Cole); son, Brad Forsyth and his daughter, Jasmine; brother, Ross Truscott; brother-in-law, Cork Davis; sister-in-law, Vivian Truscott.

Connie was predeceased by her husband, Norman Forsyth (2011); parents, Harry and Isabel Truscott; in-laws, Wesley and Elva Forsyth; brothers, Ken Truscott and Alex Truscott; sisters, Marie Davis and Jean Rink; brothers-in-law, Dave Rink, and Jack McLean; sisters-in-law, Laura Truscott, Donna McLean and Marilyn Truscott; niece, Holly Schwenneker; nephews, Gordon Garrow and Timothy Garrow; great-nephew, Tyler Scott.

A graveside service for Connie was held at the Oxbow Cemetery, Oxbow, SK. on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with Mrs. Sandy Dalziel officiating. A time of fellowship followed at the Alameda Merry Makers Club, Alameda, SK.

I felt an angel near today,

though one I could not see

I felt an angel oh so close,

sent to comfort me

I felt an angel’s kiss,

soft upon my cheek

And oh, without a single word of

caring did it speak

I felt an angel’s loving touch,

soft upon my heart

And with that touch, I felt the pain

and hurt within depart

I felt an angel’s tepid tears,

fall softly next to mine

And knew that as those tears did

dry a new day would be mine

I felt an angel’s silken wings

enfold me with pure love

And felt a strength within me

grow, a strength sent from above.
