Don Duane Thompson

May 15, 1933 ~ January 17, 2020 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Don Thompson, husband of Carol Jean Thompson, of Carnduff SK, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2020 at the age of 86.

Don was born the eldest of five children on May 15, 1933 in Carpio, ND, to Walter & Marjorie.  He married Carol DesLauriers on June 13, 1953 at St. James Catholic Church in Sherwood, ND.  He served in the United States Navy and toured many times.  Once Don and Carol were married, he was stationed in Jacksonville, FL at the United States Navy base where they had their first son Terry on March 30, 1954.  Once Don was discharged from the United States Navy they moved back to Mohall, ND to settle on the farm where they had their second son Tim on January 14, 1956 and their third son Tony on November 10, 1958.   In 1960 Don and Carol moved to Carievale, SK where he farmed, and they had their fourth son Tom on August 12, 1961.  In 1972 Don and Carol moved to Carnduff, SK where they have spent the last 48 years.

Don started working for Kimberley Clark Canada in 1965 and stayed with them for 30 years before retiring.  But he continued to farm with Tony until 2002.  He was a member of the Sherwood American Legion for 45 years, and an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus.  He was a valuable member of the St. Jude's Catholic Church in Carnduff, SK for many years.  He was also an active member of the coffee shop club.

Don and Carol enjoyed spending time in Yuma, AZ and camping with their friends and family.  He had a wonderful sense of humour and was known for teasing his grandkids and great grandkids.  This is something that will always be known as a ‘Thompson Trait’ that has and will be passed down for generations.  He loved to tease everyone he knew, and he always made people smile.  He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother and friend.
