Donna Louise (Serruys) Revet

Mrs. Donna Louise Revet (Serruys) was born on March 5, 1957 in Melita, MB.  She was the 3rd of 7 children.  Her parents were Jean (Cocquyt) and Andy Serruys.  She grew up on the family farm near Melita.

In 1974, Donna married Maurice Revet and they had 3 children.  They settled in Grand Coulee, SK, where she worked at the Law Society of Saskatchewan Library. She also worked full time as Legal Librarian for MacPherson Leslie & Tyerman (MLT) for 15+ years, working closely with the summer/articling students to help them with their online research needs. Maurice and Donna made a life for their family in Grand Coulee for 30 years and then returned back to Melita in 2012, where they built their retirement dream home.

Donna was always very actively involved in her community.  She volunteered with the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Melita Telehealth and Palliative Care, Sewing from the Heart and the Melita Arena Renovation project.  She loved a good project and was always willing to lend a hand. She enjoyed exercising, curling, golfing, gardening, baking, crafting and spending time with family and friends. She was always up for an adventure and enjoyed traveling and experiencing new places and activities with her family.

Donna faced every challenge in her life with a strong will and determination to “just keep on keepin’ on”. When things worried her, she would “say a prayer and leave it there”.  Her faith was strong, and she always trusted in God to provide her with guidance in her life. She made a habit of starting each day by writing out her morning inspiration and prayers.  She lived her life with grace and compassion for others.

Donna was diagnosed with Melanoma in 2019 but she survived this setback thanks to the support of family and friends, CancerCare Manitoba, and her doctors.  She worked hard to regain her strength and to return to her normal active life.  She was vibrant and energetic and truly was living her best life.  Unfortunately, Donna experienced a stroke on Thursday, February 3rd. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Friday, February  4, 2022 at the age of 64.

Donna is survived by her 3 children, their spouses, and 9 grandchildren; Shannon & Glenn Wright  – Myles, Rochelle and Kate; Melissa & Allan Toledo – Jared, Ella, Lily, and Julia; Michael & Desiree Revet – Brodey and Peyton;  and her best friend, Rod Davies.

Donna was predeceased by her husband, Maurice (2016); her parents, Andy (2007) and Jean (2021); her brother, Danny (1979); and her sister, Kathy (2018).

Donna will be remembered by all of her family and friends as a kind, caring, and giving person who was always there for anyone in need.  We will miss this very special lady.

A Memorial Mass was held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Melita, MB. on Monday, March 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Father Darius Biliran as Celebrant. Urn placement at the Melita Cemetery Columbarium followed the Mass.
