Doreen Edith Mokelky
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doreen Edith Mokelky on Thursday, August 31, 2023, age 93. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Gainsborough Health Centre. She left this world as she lived in it, quiet, loving and uncomplaining.
Doreen was born April 6, 1930, to Joseph and Lena (Rodenbush) Deitrich in Strasbourg, SK. The family later relocated to a farm 4 miles south of Oxbow, SK. She graduated from Oxbow High School and worked various jobs in town. She married the love of her life, Roy Mokelky, in November 1950. They were able to spend over 50 wonderful years together as loving partners, parents and grandparents until Roy’s passing in 2002. Their only daughter, Valerie, was born February 1957.
Those who knew Doreen, whether as a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, cousin, aunt or friend loved her. She was the kindest, gentlest and sweetest person we knew, always wishing to give her biggest hug to everyone when parting.
Doreen was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Lena Deitrich, husband Roy Mokelky, brothers Carl and Neil Deitrich and all of her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Doreen is survived by her daughter Valerie (Richard Zaleschuk) Wiser; her grandchildren Justin Wiser, Brodie (Danielle) Wiser, Brennen (Candice) Wiser and Karlie (Jared) Eberle; and her great-grandchildren Aviannah Taylor, MacKenzie and Benjamin Wiser, Malakai, Emersyn, Quinn and Luca Eberle; two sisters, Edna Rintoul and Joyce Wagner; numerous nieces and nephews.
