Mrs. Dorothy Kempt of Carnduff passed away peacefully at the Sunset Haven on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at the age of 96.
Dorothy Myrtle Wells was born August 5th, 1925. She was raised on the family farm north of Carievale. Following her normal teachers' training she taught at Welwyn, Yellow Grass and Estevan before returning to her hometown of Carnduff to teach grade one for 27 years from 1953 until 1980 when she retired.
In 1958 she married Earl Kempt. Following retirement they moved to Estevan in 1981. She returned to Carnduff to reside at Sunset Haven in 2011.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Earl; parents, Sam and Elizabeth Wells; brother, Harry; sister, Nina; sister in law, Lena; brothers in law, Lloyd and Arnold; three nieces, Linda Cann, Debbie Evashenko and Donna Evans.
She is survived by her sister Isabelle Evans; four nephews, Ross (Kay) Evans, Dennis Evans, Blaine (Bernadette) Wells, Craig (Lydia) Parker and one niece, Shirley (Peter) Kreke and their families. She is also survived by many good friends and students who continued to be a big part of her life.
The funeral service was held at St. Andrew's United Church, Carnduff on Monday, March 28, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Kathy Kyle officiating. The interment will take place at the Carievale Cemetery at a later date.
