Elizabeth "Betty" Rose (Corrigan) van’t Voort
May 10, 1939 – February 16, 2026
Elizabeth grew up on a farm in Dromore, Prince Edward Island. As a young woman, she trained and worked as a teacher in Prince Edward Island. In her early twenties she moved to Ontario briefly and worked at the Bank of Montreal. She married her first husband, Everette van’t Voort and in her late twenties. They packed up their two children and moved to Prince Edward Island where they lived on Betty's family farm.
In mid-life, Elizabeth moved back to Ontario, where she worked at the Stackpole factory and met her 2nd husband, Howard Simcoe. She loved dancing and music and had little interest in cooking but made delicious bread in the wood stove.
After her beloved Howard died in December of 2023, Elizabeth moved to southeast Saskatchewan. She spent her remaining years near her daughter and doing more of the things she enjoyed which included going to bingo, eating out, reading, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles and playing cribbage.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents, Henrietta and Maurice Corrigan; her brother, Martin Corrigan; sister, Mary Hedges as well as her first and second husbands.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Jackie; her son, Brian (Leah); her step-children, Tyna (David), Shanyn (Nik) and Jeremy (Laura); and numerous step-grandchildren.
There will be a private memorial service at a later date.
