Frederick William "Bill" Nelms

Frederick William “Bill or Billy” Nelms passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 in Winnipeg, MB, at the age of 75.

Bill was born to Frederick William and Gladys (Hall) Nelms in Winnipeg in 1947. 

He was predeceased by his parents, by his daughter Jacquie, as well as numerous uncles, aunts & cousins.

He is survived by his daughter Janice (Ian) and children - David, Evan & Megan; by his son-in-law Chris and children – Maia, Sam & Max; by his sister Bonnie & family; by his Uncle Leonard Hall; by his Aunt Kay Hall; and remembered by many cousins.

Bill started school in Winnipeg and later moved to Melita where he graduated from high school. He then attended the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg where he studied Commerce.  He started his work experience at a young age on his Uncle Willie’s farm, driving tractors, hunting gophers magpies & crows, learning how to make sling-shots & bow & arrows.  His various occupations included store manager, masonry, working for a moving company, liquor store owner, and finally Store Concepts Merchandiser for Shoppers Drug Mart.

His hobbies included fishing, hunting, playing & watching hockey, baseball and football, working at his computers, reading & researching many topics, and loved to test everyone’s home cooking and peach pies!

A Graveside Service was held at the Melita Cemetery, Melita, MB. on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. (MB).
