Garnet is my father-in-law. Dad would say that we were love at first sight :) We bonded through our daily health struggles, our passion for life and our love for family. He nicknamed me Rocky because I'm from The Rock. He also called me his Little Socialist which always made for interesting debates at the farm. Life wasn't always kind to us, but we persevered. There were times we shared "spoons" to help take the pressure off our love ones. He couldn't wait to drive across Canada and finally take the ferry across to Newfoundland. But I got sick in 2018 and then Covid hit, life got harder and Dad's health got worse. So quickly the dream of visiting Gander Airport and sitting on Diane and Charlie-bye's front porch died. Garrett and I hoped for at least one last game of Kanasta and one last hug, but dad went to heaven too quickly. Now life at the farm just doesn't feel the same. 5.5 years will never be enough time with him. For that I'm very sad. However, 5.5 years is a blessing to have known him, loved him and been his favorite daughter-in-law. RIP Dad Ball xoxo
