Henry Weinrauch Obituary

After 86 revolutions around the sun and thousands more around the oil fields Henry (Hank) Weinrauch passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.

Henry was born at Lampman, SK on March 10, 1935, to Leo and Theresa Weinrauch. He was one of 6 children (and a twin).   He attended Rockland & Steelman Schools.  At age 16 they moved from the family farm to Hirsh, Sk. Henry worked in the community pastures and entered the reserves during this time.

In his early 20’s, Henry travelled the areas of Estevan, Regina and Moose Jaw for various jobs. When working in Estevan, Henry met Lillian Fisher, the love of his life.

He married his wife, Lillian, on December 20, 1958. They were blessed to have 5 children and 62 years of marriage. Henry started working in the oilfield for Kissinger drilling, which took them from Estevan to Carnduff. When Henry started battery operating with Kissinger, the family moved to a camp in the Elmore distinct near Carievale, SK.  They permanently moved to Carnduff in the late 1960’s. Henry spent 40 years working as a battery operator, retiring from Imperial Oil/Esso in 1991. After retirement, he continued to contract in the oil fields and worked as a caretaker for Senior Housing.

For many years, Henry served on the Parish Council at St. Jude’s Catholic Church and with the Knights of Columbus. Henry’s closest and favorite neighbor was the church which was obvious with the dedicated time and passion he put into the church.

Henry also belonged to the Legion and enjoying activities such as ball, bowling, curling and golf with his friends. Henry and Lil travelled extensively, mostly visiting their children with long roads trips across Canada and the United States, and a trip to Europe.

Henry was a gentle and kind man, which was evident in his love for children and animals. He loved to visit with friends and family. Laughing was also important which was evident by his teasing and well-timed jokes.

Henry is survived by his loving wife, Lillian, and his 5 children: Raeona (Dennis) Lanski, Brenda (Todd) Tyson, Gary Weinrauch, Wendy Gilbert, and Greg (Treena) Weinrauch. Henry had a special place in the heart of his 9 grandchildren: Christie (Aris), Cory (deceased), Cara, Cole (Keziah), Kyle, Brooke, Haley, Jaiden, and Justin and his 3 great-grandchildren, AJ, Milaina, and Autumn.  Others left to mourn include his brothers, Clem and Jonas (Doris), his sister, Jean, and sisters-in-law, Claire and Phyllis as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Henry was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Theresa (Scherman) Weinrauch; brothers, Herb and George Weinrauch; grandson, Cory Lanski and in-laws, Mervin Olsen, Carey Weinrauch, Shirley Weinrauch, & Gladys Weinrauch.

Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Carnduff, SK. on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Fr. Vince Borre as celebrant. Following Mass a time of fellowship and visiting took place at the church hall. Interment followed at the Carnduff Cemetery.
