Irvine "Irv" Skelton

Irvine David Matthew Skelton of Melita, MB. passed away at the Melita Health Centre on Friday, May 31, 2024 at the age of 82.

Irv was born on September 7, 1941 in Coulter. He was the oldest child of Dave and Ethel (Fletcher) Skelton. He married Brenda Joan Wyatt on July 3, 1965. Irv was passionate about sports and took great pride in playing baseball, and coaching his sons hockey and baseball teams while they were growing up. He later never missed attending a weightlifting competition as he and Brenda traveled across Canada to watch their granddaughters compete. Irv worked hard and could fix anything. He loved tinkering with anything and everything. He spent many hours at the farm in the shop working on his latest project. Irv enjoyed traveling, family vacations and spending time at their cabin at the lake. 

Irv is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Brenda; his two sons, Trent (Monica) and their two daughters, Rienna (Jaden) & Courtney, and Jayson and his son, Nicholas; his sister, Shirley Kernaghan and sister-in-law, Barb Wyatt.

He was predeceased by his parents, David and Ethel Skelton; in-laws, Toots and Lefty Wyatt; brothers-in-law, Wayne Kernaghan and Bill Wyatt.

A celebration of Irv’s life took place on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Melita Legion Hall (Main Street).
