Jean Hicks
November 19, 1939 - December 15, 2023
Mrs. Jean Hicks of Melita, passed away peacefully at the Melita Health Centre, Melita, MB. on Friday, December 15, 2023 at the age of 84.
Jean is survived by her son, Lawrence (Carleen) Hicks; her grandson Awley; her sister, Betty Elliott.
Jean was predeceased by her husband, Bryon Hicks; her mother, Margaret Morran; her father Laurence Morran; her brother, Dave Morran; sister-in-law, Jimmie Morran; her brother-in-law, Ted Elliott.
In keeping with Jean’s wishes, no funeral service will be held.
For over 60 years Jean loved living in the town of Melita and spending her retirement there after working as a primary school teacher for 32 years at the Melita school. She enjoyed the many local events, golfing with family and friends, going for coffee and being part of the community.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to support the restoration of the horse (playground equipment) in Melita's Central Park. Donations by cheque can be made to the Town of Melita, Box 361, Melita, MB. R0M 1L0 (in the memo please note, horse rejuvenation memorial) or e-transfer to admin@melitamb.ca (password horse).
