Jean (Lee) Sterling

March 23, 1922 ~ September 16, 2020 (age 98) 98 Years Old


Mrs. Jean Sterling of Melita passed away peacefully at the Melita Personal Care Home on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at the age of 98.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Patricia Downey (Francis, deceased) (their sons, Todd and Scott), and Ruth Zahorodny (Larrie, deceased); sons, Bill (Cheryl) (their children, Jodi, Sherrie, and Rick), Bob's children, (Tara and Kelly), Stephen (Darlene) (their children, Devon and Blair), and son-in-law, Lee Willoughby. She is lovingly remembered by twenty two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Kenneth (Della, deceased), Allan (Barbara), and her sister Gwen Tucker (Arthur, deceased); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; sisters-in-law, Joyce Lee, Joyce Parker, and Gwen Kenner; brother-in-law, Jim Sterling and many friends.

Jean was predeceased by her parents, Stephen and Sadie (Southam) Lee; her husband, William Delmar (Pat); son, Robert (Bob); daughter, Karen Willoughby; brother, Gordon.

Jean was employed by Canada Post until her retirement at the age of 65. She was an incredible mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and homemaker. She was always helpful and kind to everyone she knew. She loved playing senior slow pitch until the ripe old age of 83 winning many a medal. She also enjoyed curling, golfing and her Scottish dancing. She had a passion for baking her famous cinnamon buns and sticky Jim. Her smiles, laughter and warm hugs will be sadly missed. Special thanks to all of the staff at Melita Personal Care Home for all the wonderful care she received in her final years.

Due to COVID-19 a private family graveside service was held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020.
