Jessie Margaret (Cinnamon) Plews, age 88, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on Monday, April 25, 2022 at the Regina General Hospital. Born on March 13, 1934, in the Silverton District of Carnduff, Saskatchewan to parents, Roy and Janet Cinnamon, she grew up on the family farm north of Carnduff with seven siblings. She attended the Silverton District School, and graduated at the Carnduff High School.
Jessie married Allison Edward Plews on October 11, 1952, and together they farmed southwest of Carnduff for many years until Al’s passing in 1988. Jessie continued to farm until 1996. During the winter months, Jessie and Al visited and travelled with friends and family, enjoyed golfing, music, dancing and card games, and attending hockey games.
During her younger days, Jessie enjoyed playing baseball, piano, curling, and tending to a large garden. Later, she became an avid golfer at the Carnduff Golf Course and travelled south to Arizona for over 30 years in retirement to enjoy the sport she loved gathering many new friends.
Jessie will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.
Jessie is survived by her children: Kathleen Plews of Regina, SK, Lauri (Wayne) Valentine of Carnduff, SK, and Ken (Nancy) Plews of Carnduff, SK; grandchildren: Colleen Beamish of Brandon, MB, Sandra (Russell) Sharp of Sherwood Park, AB, Clarke Plews of Regina, SK, Eric Valentine of Weyburn, SK, Gregory (Kelly) Valentine of Leduc, AB, David (Caroline) Valentine of Brandon, MB, Dillan Plews of Carnduff, SK, Hailey Plews of Stratford, PEI, and Matthew, Mason, and Mia Plews of Carnduff, SK; brother Ken Cinnamon of Cold Lake, AB; sisters-in-law: Lois and Ulla Cinnamon, Doreen and Joyce Verity, and Wilma (Ewing) Plews Rae; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Jessie was predeceased by her husband, Al; two daughters, Donna and Susan; siblings: Jim (Marie) Cinnamon, Muriel (Ray) Horner, Dorothy (Russell) Fitzpatrick, Wilma (Fred) Moreau, and Alan and Bob Cinnamon; brothers-in-law: Jack (Marlan) Plews, and John and Earl Verity.
Pallbearers will be Jessie’s grandsons: Clarke Plews, Gregory and David Valentine, Dillan, Matthew and Mason Plews.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jessie's granddaughters: Colleen Beamish, Sandra Sharp, Hailey Plews, Mia Plews and grandson Eric Valentine.
The funeral service was held at St. Andrew's United Church, Carnduff, SK. on Friday, May 6, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Susan Reed officiating. The interment followed at the Carnduff Cemetery. The service was live streamed on the church's Facebook page, "St. Andrew's United Church Carnduff".
