Karel Paul Marek passed away June 26, 2026 at Langley Memorial Hospital in his 82nd year.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his son Craig (JoAnn) Marek, grandson Brock, grandson Dane (Hyacinth) and great-grandson Lewis, and granddaughter Callie (Kyle) Derouard and great-grandchildren Paisley, Trey and Cruz, and son Shaun (father Cassian). Also left to mourn are Karel’s fiancé Shirley Wiebe, her daughter Alisa Loch with her daughters Hunter and Scarlet, Shirley’s son Jeremy (Jaana) Wiebe and their children Eden and Asher. Karel leaves behind a brother Danny (Sharon) Marek and a sister Cathy (Darwyn) MacKenzie as well as many nephews and nieces.

Karel was predeceased by his wife Patricia, sister Janette Marek and parents Karel and Herma.

Karel studied at Dickinson State University, Central Pentecostal College and the University of Saskatchewan earning degrees in music, theology, science and education. He was a school teacher in Oxbow, Saskatchewan.

Karel was an accomplished musician and played with the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra in his youth. Giving glory to God for his gift, he consecrated it to sacred music. His joy was to play trumpet, piano and sing in Praise and Worship services. The Lord Jesus Christ was central to Karel. He devoted hours to prayer and study of Scripture. Whenever possible, he would share the Gospel message of salvation. He was a firm believer in the power of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Karel reconnected with a childhood acquaintance, Shirley. Soon, they fell in love and decided to spend the rest of their lives together. Shirley’s children and grandchildren warmly welcomed Karel with love.

The pallbearers will be Jeremy Wiebe, Asher Wiebe, Ken Halsey, Alexander Halsey, Vaughn Brown and Darwyn MacKenzie.

Funeral services will be held at Henderson’s Funeral Home in Langley, BC on Wednesday, July 8th, 2026 at 10:00 am. Celebrating clergy: Anglican Pastor Ken Deeks. Pianist: Laura Altenmueller. Interment will follow at Fort Langley Cemetery.
