Kitty Irene (Stone) Chartrand

Mrs. Kitty Chartrand of Melita passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, Brandon, MB. on Friday, September 23, 2022 at the age of 63.

Kitty Irene (Stone) Chartrand was born in Bancroft, ON on February 16, 1959. As the only daughter with 4 brothers, her passion for taking care of people started at a very young age. Kitty would reminisce often of the laundry days and the endless eggs and toast she made for her brothers.

Kitty married Jeffrey Chartrand on April 23, 1982. They had 3 children, Steven, Jennifer, and Andrew.

Kitty’s love for taking care of people carried through to her career with the many hats she wore. She had roles in health care, daycare, schools, and working with people with disabilities. Her passion for people and patience for vulnerabilities was a special gift she shared.

Kitty’s most cherished role was with the ones who called her Grandma. Jeff and Kitty spent their time very involved in their grandkids lives and were often planning the next adventure with them.

Kitty held a special place in many people’s hearts, because she made sure you knew the place you had in hers.

Kitty is survived by her husband, Jeff Chartrand of Melita; son, Steven (Jana) Chartrand (sons, Jonathan and Joey) of Tyendinaga, ON; daughter, Jennifer (Steven) Champion (sons, Nathan, Noah and Nicholas) of Melita; son, Andrew (Mandy) Chartrand (son, Emmett) of Melita; brothers, Arnold and Scott Stone; sisters-in-law, Wendy and Laurie Stone.

She was predeceased by her mother, Irene Raymond; father, Arnold Stone; brothers, Harry and Claude Stone.

A celebration of Kitty's life will take place in Ontario at a later date.
