L. Diane (Marginet) Simpson

June 26, 1946 ~ April 23, 2020 (age 73) 73 Years Old

The family of Linda “Diane” Simpson (Marginet), 73 years, of Carnduff, SK are deeply saddened to announce her passing on Thursday, April 23, 2020 at her residence.

Diane was the first child of Ed & Louise Marginet (DeDecker), born at their Holland, MB farm on June 26, 1946. Diane attended Centreville School until consolidation; Holland School to Grade 11; and graduated from Grade 12 at St. Charles Academy in Winnipeg. She attended Teacher’s College in Winnipeg and taught grades 1-6 for one year at McDermott School Division No. 810 near Carman. Diane had many careers, many of which involved caring for others. She was a teacher, housekeeper, waitress, cook, group home supervisor, building superintendent, and often had boarders that she would provide wonderful meals for.

Diane married Harvey Ross Warren July 9, 1966; they had two sons: Randal Ross, born August 9, 1965; and Richmond Walter, born April 13, 1967. Diane married the second time to Edward Charles Fredbjornson June 26, 1982. On March 23, 1995 Diane married Carievale, SK. grain farmer, George Alexander Simpson.

Diane enjoyed the farm life and loved gardening. She had beautiful flower gardens and a large vegetable garden. Her grandchildren loved to visit the farm where everyday chores were an adventure and were always followed by an even greater adventure like visiting the neighbours to see their farm animals; driving the go-cart and garden tractors; having a tea party in the playhouse; or sitting around the table after supper playing games. Diane and George moved from the farm to Melita where she had room to display her very large Christmas village and welcome visitors into their home for a tour. She gave many interviews and her Christmas display and decorations were featured in a variety of local Saskatchewan newspapers. They resided for a short time in Holland, MB and then moved to Carnduff, Saskatchewan. In November George & Diane moved to the Sunset Haven. Diane loved their suite and enjoyed the many activities and entertainment. She was comforted to have help nearby and appreciated the wonderful staff.

Diane and George enjoyed many years of travelling with their camper to music festivals and events throughout southeastern Saskatchewan and southwestern Manitoba. Diane especially enjoyed their Sunday trips to the Red Market Barn to enjoy the old time music and visit with friends. Diane loved garage sales, flea markets and finding gently loved treasures in all the communities she visited. She was well known for her seasonal and holiday decorating and many of those items came from a successful trip to one of her favourite thrift stores. She and George shared a love of collecting and over the years had a real variety of collections. Diane also spent many hours watching figure skating, curling and Hallmark movies, all while crocheting. Television and crocheting always went together as she didn’t believe in an idle mind or hands. She donated her crocheted items to church bazaars and a variety of shelters. Diane also loved to puzzle and this past Christmas she was thrilled to have four generations around the puzzle table.

Family was always very important to Diane and she loved to share family news and pictures with her friends. She proudly displayed pictures of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren throughout their home. She especially looked forward to family gatherings, video chats, and the daily antics posted to the family chat group. Diane also loved Facebook which kept her in touch with her family, extended family, and long time and new friends. Diane had a swift and friendly smile and was quick to make friends wherever she went. Diane will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Diane is survived by her husband, George Simpson of Carnduff; son, Randy (Lauree) Warren of Treherne, MB, and their three children, Bob (Susan) (children, Carter, Jack, and Myles) of Oak Bank, MB, Reid (Kayla) (children, Kylie and Lilly) of Treherne, and Jennelle (Cody) (son, Brock) of Treherne; son, Rick (Lisa) Warren of Oliver, BC; four step-children, Donald (Kristina) Simpson (daughter, Jennifer) of Edmonton, AB, Maria Simpson (Kent) (son, Parker) of Guelph, ON, Gloria Simpson of Port Moody, BC, and Julia Simpson (Ben) of Vancouver, BC; brother, David (Linda) Marginet of Treherne; sisters-in-law, Frances Marginet of Treherne and Annie (Lyle) Cowan of Carlyle, SK; brother-in-law, Fred (Shirley) Simpson of Carnduff; numerous nieces and nephews.
