Laura (Blue) Truscott

May 16, 1927 ~ February 22, 2021 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Mrs. Laura Truscott of Alameda, beloved wife of the late Mr. Alex Truscott (d. 2011), dear mother of Joanne and Jack, passed away at the Moose Mountain Lodge, Carlyle, SK. on Monday, February 22, 2021 at the age of 93.

Laura was predeceased by her parents, John (Jack) & Eva Blue; husband, Alexander Truscott; sisters, Leona Hanson, Elva Sanderson and Elaine Miller; brothers-in-law, Ken Truscott, David Rink, Norman Forsyth, Sandy Sanderson, and Angus Hanson; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Truscott, Jean Rink and Marie Davis.

Laura is survived by daughter, Joanne (Nelson) Farnden of Alameda and their children, Christopher (Carmen) (children, Max & Camille) of Alameda, Janelle (David) of Manitou Beach; son Jack (Diane) of Alameda and their children, David (Lauren) of Calgary, Dustin (Megan) (children, Everleigh & Elliott) of Saskatoon, Mika (Aaron) Shaer of Victoria; brothers-in-law, Cork Davis of Alameda, Ross Truscott of Calgary; sisters-in-law, Vivian Truscott of Weyburn, Connie Forsyth of Oxbow; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Born in Glenside, SK. on May 16, 1927, Laura moved to Alameda, SK. when she was 8 years old. She attended a public school and reached her grade 12. Throughout the years she kept busy helping on the farm, working at the post office, at Davis Solo store and as a telephone operator. Laura married the love of her life, Alex Truscott, in 1947 and they had two children together, Joanne and Jack. Laura kept busy on the farm, growing beautiful flower beds, large vegetable gardens, driving grain trucks and raising chickens. She served on many community committees including the Alameda rink board, United Church committee, and museum board. 

Laura enjoyed spending time at their cabin at White Bear Resort with family and friends. Her pride and joy was her family. She had five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren that she loved to spend time with, following them in all their sports and activities. Laura was known for her generosity, kindness and sense of humor. She will be missed by all who knew her. 

The service to celebrate Laura's life was held at the Alameda United Church, Alameda, SK. on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jackie van't Voort officiating. The interment followed at the Alameda Cemetery.
