It is with great sadness the family of Linda Louise Bailey announce her sudden passing on Monday, October 17, 2022 at the age of 67 years young at her residence in Minnedosa, MB.
Linda was the firstborn child of Frank and Marion (McCallum) Bailey, born on January 12th, 1955. She was born in Deloraine but was raised in Melita. In 1970, Linda moved to Portage la Prairie to attend a developmental school for intellectually delayed persons. She moved to Neepawa and was fostered by the Powell family. She then moved to a group home to become more independent. Linda lived independently in Minnedosa for over 35 years. For Linda, Minnedosa was her home.
Over the years Linda loved coming home for family visits. While her parents were alive, she stayed with them and after their passing, with her sisters. Christmas in the Bailey home was always so special because that was when the family of ten were all back together. Fun was had playing Yahtzee which she loved so much. We often heard her laugh, and "off the bat" was her favourite expression when she got a good roll.
Linda had a love for travel. She journeyed to Branson, Missouri to see the air balloons, Disneyland in California, and to Hawaii twice with a good friend, Koryna. She was hoping to go again for her 65th birthday but unfortunately the pandemic interrupted that plan.
Linda loved to walk out in the country with her nieces, nephews and the dogs when home for visits. She loved children, especially the nieces and nephews and now the great nieces and nephews. She would always bring them treasures she found at Frontier.
Linda always took fitness to heart, winning several medals as she took part in the Special Olympics from 1980-2000. Track & Field and bowling were areas she excelled in. She joined Curves in early 2000 which really got her fitness journey started. She was always so proud of her weight loss. "I'm skinny now!" was often heard over the phone or in person when we would see her. Linda also developed a love for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing with her good friend Nancy.
Linda loved art and her job at Inspire Studio. Working with Marlese was a highlight in Linda's week. At her work at Frontier she was known to always arrive early so as not to be late, as our father always instilled in us. She was especially proud to be working the till. Linda felt this was a big promotion.
Linda had many exceptional caregivers over the years that we are so especially thankful for: Mary Ann, Carla, Sheila and Bailey to name a few but as we know there were many, many more. We are truly, incredibly thankful.
Linda loved her friends and co-workers and she was well known in her community.
Linda's love for pets was evident. She had many birds, dogs and cats. She leaves behind her favourites, Tiger and Baby Jane, who miss her terribly already.
Linda was predeceased by her parents Frank and Marion; and her two brothers Bill and Peter. Left to mourn are Linda's sisters Peggy, Cindy (Vern), Fran (Wayne), Shirley (Ron), Pat (Dan) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Linda's sisters are so grateful and thankful that Linda had such a wonderful Minnedosa Family, as was evident in the past few days with messages and people stopping by.
Linda Louise, we love you and one day our chain of ten will be linked in Heaven again.
A public graveside service was held at the Melita Cemetery, Melita, MB. on Monday, October 24, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.
