Dorothy Blanche "Lorraine" (Haughton) Shier passed away peacefully in the early hours of Monday, October 6, 2025.
Survived by her soulmate Stewart, of almost 75 years, as well as numerous nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews and their families across Canada and the USA. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Margaret Shier (Oxbow).
Lorraine was predeceased by her parents Olla Belle and Charles Haughton, 7 siblings and their spouses, and 7 Shier in-laws and 6 of their spouses.
Lorraine grew up on the Haughton farm in the Wheatland District, SW of Carnduff. As young adults Lorraine and Stewart traveled and worked at Youbou on Vancouver Island for a few years before returning to Carnduff, where she and Stewart took up farming. Life was full and busy, working a full time job in retail, caring for her aging mother, and she also enjoyed keeping up to-date with the lives of her extended family. She loved company whether for tea and a visit or an impromptu meal, there was always space at their table for her many cherished friends and relatives.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, her daily morning walks, her annual vegetable garden as well as the odd trip to the casino. Lorraine and Stewart also belonged to the local Square Dancing group for many years, Legion and enjoyed travels throughout Canada, USA, and Mexico. Although her favourite location to return each winter season was White Rock, B.C., where she enjoyed many life long friendships and catching up with family.
A graveside service for Lorraine will be held in the spring of 2026 at the Carnduff Cemetery. Service information (date/time) will be announced closer to that time.

She was loved and will be missed.
