September 9, 1938 – January 12, 2022

Lyla passed away peacefully at the Sunset Haven Nursing Home in Carnduff, SK on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 with family by her side, listening to her favourite music.

Lyla was born on September 9, 1938 in Oxbow, SK and was raised north of Glen Ewen, SK. She graduated in 1957 and then helped with harvest and worked on her family's farm.

Lyla married Larry North on August 3, 1959 and worked at the Bank of Montreal for 7 years. Lyla worked at the Sunset Haven Nursing Home in Carnduff as a hairdresser from 1975 to 2012. She truly loved her job and the residents as well as the many staff along the way.

Lyla has always been very talented with her hobbies including: sewing, quilting, baking, macrame, knitting and crocheting. Each child, grandchild and great-grandchild has received a special handmade quilt.

Entertaining at several senior centers, Canada Day celebrations in the park band shell and thresherman reunions. Lyla had a wonderful ear for music and could play many instruments all by ear including the piano, organ, chord organ, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, base guitar, steel guitar, mandolin, fiddle, harmonica, accordion and banjo.

If you can’t be a Highway,

Then just be a Trail.

If you can’t be the Sun,

Be a STAR.

For it isn’t by Size,

That you win or Fail.

Be the Best of whatever you Are.

I Love You All,

Grandma

Please don’t be sad; I am not gone,

The wind in the trees will play you my song.

The crickets at night they deliver my tune,

My spirit shines in the soft light of the moon.

My soul’s in the rain, that fixes the dry,

My melody is heard in a newborn’s cry.

Look for me and I am there,

I am all around you, I am everywhere.

I have not gone, I am not past,

Cry no more, make this tear your last.

Remember the laughter, the fun that we had.

Remember the good, forget all the sad.

Please dry your eyes, please do not cry,

For this is but a short goodbye.
