Mae (Fewings) Nicholls

Mrs. Muriel Mae Nicholls of Pierson, MB. passed away peacefully at the Reston Health Centre on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at the age of 93.

Mae was born in Pierson on September 15, 1928 to John and Beatrice Fewings. Mae graduated Grade 12 from Eunola School in 1945 and went on to pursue a career in education through the Normal College in Winnipeg. After graduation, Mae began teaching at Broomhill School in a multi-grade setting, then taught at Eunola, Melita and Pierson Schools respectively.

In 1942, Mae met the love of her life, Mervin Nicholls, and they wed on December 26, 1950 and went on to have two children, Patty and Greg.

Mae dedicated her life to being a fantastic mother. She excelled at motherhood and was the foundation of our family. She was an avid gardener. When she wasn’t filling her home with trinkets and house plants, she could be found tending to her yards, teaching music lessons, playing bingo, watching curling, and riding her bike.

We will miss her greatly. 

Mae was predeceased by her parents, John and Beatrice (Minshull) Fewings; her spouse, Mervin; her brothers, Raymond and Gordon (Millie); and her sister, Kathleen (Robert).

She is survived by her daughter, Patty (Ray) and granddaughter, Tricia (Matt); son, Greg (Linda) and grandchildren, Adam (Meghan), Melissa (Rob), and Marcie (Jeff); as well as many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. 

A private family service will take place at the Pierson Cemetery at a later date.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of one's choice.
