Mae (Whitehead) Swayze

Mrs. Ida "Mae" Swayze of Carnduff passed away peacefully at the Galloway Health Centre, Oxbow, SK. on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at the age of 90.

Mae is survived by her daughter, Orvella (Fraser) Small; son, Jerry (Cynthia); daughter, Verdeen (Grant) Matthewson; eleven grandchildren: Blake (wife, Kari) and children Jenna, Tycen, Joshua, and Taylor, Wade (wife, Crystal) and children Abby, Ryker, Jaxton and Lilou, Matthew (Lara) and Sheena; Ryan (wife, Melissa) and children Amy, Katie and Hayden, Randy (wife, Kelly) and children Rhianna, Jace, Deegan and Leah, Colby (wife, Cynthia) and children Charlotte, Connor and Bradley; Tara Beck (husband, Blair) and children Carter, Brandon, Corbin and Tia, Martina Doepker (husband, Todd) and children George and Charles, Kurt (wife, Alison) and children Cohen and Nora; brother-in-law, Robert (wife, Gilda); sister-in-law, Gay Steeves (Gary) and numerous nephews, nieces and many friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Orvil Swayze (d. 2013); son, Russell Swayze and great-grandson, Adam Swayze; parents, Jack and Ida Whitehead; brothers, Albert (Isabelle), Wes (Kaye), Howard (Marion), infant brother Wayne; sister, Maryetta Coates (Archie); niece, Orla; in-laws, Earl and Linda Swayze; brother-in-law, Harry (Janny) and (their grandson, Harry Jr.); sisters-in-law, Della Fairbairn (Ralph), Verla Stevenson (Bob); and nephews, Dallas and Dwayne.

A graveside funeral service for Mae was held at the Carnduff Cemetery Memorial Area, Carnduff, SK. on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Susan Reed officiating. Folks that had received a quilt from Mae displayed them proudly at the service.
