Margaret Brigden Obituary

Margaret Brigden (Arnold)

Margaret Brigden passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 11, 2022 with her family by her side. Margaret was born December 26, 1925 in Deloraine, Manitoba. She married Stanley Brigden on October 21, 1948 and together they raised five children, Kathy (Wilson), Bob (Pat), Barry (Carla), Lori (Rick), Linda (Rory). Over the years Margaret’s family grew to include many grandchildren, great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy and throughout the years Margaret very much enjoyed each and every one of her kids, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren and each of every one of them will always have a special place in their heart for her.

Stan and Marg resided and enjoyed their farm in the Napinka community where they worked hard, raised their family and were part of their community and church. In 1992, Stan and Marg built their retirement home in Melita and in doing so became very much part of that community. Stan passed away on April 25, 1996 and Marg remained in their home and continued to build a good life on her own in the Melita community where she forged many new friendships. Marg set a very strong example for her family by being independent building a life for herself which always included room for her children and grandchildren which in doing so kept the family close over all those years. She moved to Victoria Landing in Brandon in November 2015, where she started new friendships and built a new life. She welcomed the visits from her family to her new home.

Some of the loves of Marg’s life were birds, flowers, clouds, the stars in the sky, all children, Halloween, backyard picnics, backyard fireworks (NOT), prairie sunsets, a well-stocked freezer full of cookies and treats, laughter and fun, and Sunday afternoon drives.

Stan was and always remained the love of Marg’s life and her family takes great comfort in knowing that they are back together again.

Marg was laid to rest at the Napinka Cemetery, Napinka, MB. during a private graveside ceremony. Donations in memory of Margaret can be directed to the Napinka Cemetery Fund or Victoria United Church (Melita).

The Brigden family would like to express their gratitude to everyone who in whatever way shared in Margaret’s life.
