Marilyn was born at Deloraine, MB on October 18, 1977. She was the youngest daughter of Orville and Eleanor (Bailey) and grew up on the family farm south of Coulter. She faced many challenges and was able to overcome them with the support of her family.
Marilyn attended Melita School graduating in 1996. She worked first as a waitress at the Melita Inn and then began working in different positions at the grocery store. She truly enjoyed working in the store with her fellow staff members over the years and connected and looked forward to seeing and visiting with everyone who came into the shop. She was a favourite face for many and when people called in orders, they would ask for her specifically as they knew she would get them exactly what they wanted, knowing how they shopped for themselves. As her health struggles worsened, she worked as long as she could, until she was unable, but she missed all the staff and customers.
Marilyn was active in the community. She was a member of Kinettes and Lions. She enjoyed darts at the Legion with her team. She did some golfing and curling.
She passed away surrounded by her family at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg after her short but hard battle with cancer.
Marilyn is survived by her parents, Orville and Eleanor; two sisters, Annette (Bryan), Susan (Kyle); five nephews, Travis, Jack, Logan, Noah and Ethan, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Marilyn will be remembered for her friendly smile, and kindness to all.
A service to celebrate Marilyn's life was held at the Melita Legion Hall, Melita, MB. on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Kurt Ardron officiating. Interment followed at the Melita Cemetery.
