Murray Lynn Kirkup
March 27,1960 - February 12, 2026
Murray Lynn Kirkup passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the Virden Health Centre after a courageous 15-year battle with Huntington's disease.
Murray was predeceased by his parents, Robert John “Jack” Kirkup and Edythe Leone (Snyder) Kirkup; his brother-in-law, Alan Sheridan; and his mother-in-law, Annette (Dooley) Robson.
Murray is survived by a large and loving family: his sons, Brent and Derek; daughter-in-law, Jaclyn; and granddaughters, Rowan and Kenzie; his wife, Sharon (Robson); father-in-law, Jack Robson; stepdaughter, Kim Jones, her partner, Cody Mason, and granddaughter, Esme Jones; stepson, Chris Bickerton, his partner, Tessa Klein, and grandchildren, Wyatt and Cheyenne Bickerton and Jennifer Klein. Murray is also survived by his sisters, Elaine (Chris) Hunt and Helen Sheridan; his brothers, Larry (Darlene) Kirkup and Bert (Shelley) Kirkup; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, whom he cared for deeply. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Michael (Denise) Robson, and their family.
Murray was a kind, gentle, hardworking man with a great sense of humour. He never complained or had a bad word to say about anyone. He farmed with his dad and brothers for the majority of his working life. He enjoyed curling and watching his sons grow up to become the men they are today. He also enjoyed family events, time spent with friends, and attending concerts at the North Dakota State Fair, Dauphin Countryfest, and Johnny’s Social Club when he and Sharon lived in Flin Flon for nine years. Over the years, he also enjoyed attending meat draws at the Legions in Melita, Flin Flon, and Hartney.
A celebration of Murray's life was held at the Melita Legion Hall (Main Street), Melita, MB. on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. The interment took place at the Melita Cemetery.
