Welcome to the memorial page for

Paul Carlysle Coon

September 18, 1940 ~ December 25, 2020 (age 80) 80 Years Old

It is with very heavy hearts that the family of Paul C. Coon, of Beaumont, Alberta, announce his passing on Friday, December 25, 2020 at the age of 80 years after a lengthy and difficult struggle with Lewy Body Dementia. Paul was born in Carnduff, Saskatchewan on September 18, 1940 to Kenneth Edgar and Ada Jean Coon. When Paul was young, he worked on farms in the Carnduff and Carievale areas. Then later moved west to Alberta seeking employment in the oil patch, resulting in a very long and successful career in Canada as well as overseas. Paul also taught at an oilwell training facility in Nisku, Alberta for a few years before permanently retiring.

Paul is survived by his wife, Lois; three daughters, Paulette (Tom) Brown; Bonnie (Al) Bolton; Julie (Greg) Mattwiiw, and one son, Paul John Coon; one step-daughter, Sandra (Keith) Smith; and one step-son, Rob (partner, Lori) Douglas as well as thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters, Sandra Archer; Sonya Marie (Wilf) Jaeger, two brothers, Wayne (Bev) Coon; Kenneth Coon as well as nephews, nieces, cousins and close friends. Paul was predeceased by his parents and one sister, Penny Sue Coon.

Paul was a very kind and charitable man with a big smile; he was always ready and more than willing to help a friend. Paul’s children and grandchildren were his biggest joys in life. He made a point to always keep in touch and visit with friends near and far, many since childhood. He had a very keen interest in genealogy providing his family with a comprehensive history of their origins to share with future generations. He loved traveling in his RV to many destinations in Canada and the US, hiking, exploring, photography, reading and telling stories of the many different places he had visited. When Paul finally decided to retire, Yuma, Arizona was his destination point with ‘golf’ topping the to-do list.

The family would like to thank the staff at “Salem Manor” in Leduc, Alberta for providing such a warm and caring environment for Paul during his last two years of life.

Due to COVID restrictions a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Alberta and Saskatchewan.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society.
