BALLANCE: It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rachael Patricia Ballance (nee Dean), beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.
Rachael was predeceased by her parents, William and Marian Dean; sisters, Ellen and Donna; brother, Richard.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 35 years, Cameron; sons, Jamie (Mercedes), John (Richelle), David and Daniel; ten grandchildren; sister, Cesha (Bruce); brother, Bob (Kim); sisters-in-law, Jackie, Wendy, Karen (Ken), Lois (George); numerous aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Rachael was born in Edmonton, Alberta on September 11, 1958. She spent her early years traveling with her family throughout the country until settling in Brandon in 1978. She started her working career in the hospitality industry until finding her passion as a Health Care Aide in 1991. She worked at Hillcrest Place and Central Park Lodge before settling into a position on A3 at the BRHC. Rachael retired from her health care aide position in 2016 to return to the hospitality industry to help carry on her brother Richard’s legacy at Little Caesars in Brandon where she worked until July when she became ill. She did however remain casual at the BRHC throughout the years as her passion to care for people never wavered. Rachael has touched the lives of so many people and will be remembered for her kind, loving and compassionate nature. She will truly be missed by long time friends Linda and Rick Gordon as well as all those whose paths she had crossed. She will be especially missed by her best friend of fifteen years, Cody (the Codester). The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Health Sciences Centre and the BRHC for their care and compassion during her brief stay in hospital as well as Neil and Kurt from Redpath Funeral Home for their care and compassion as well.
A formal funeral service will not be held.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Rachael’s memory to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation (ICU Department), 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB. R7A 2B3.
