Mr. Richard John Nielsen of Wapella, passed away at the Southeast Integrated Care Centre, Moosomin on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at the age of 80.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Aline; parents, Katherine and Nels; brother, Colin; great-grandson, Easton; father and mother-in-law, Elmer and Lucy Taylor; brother in-law, Larry Passmore.
Richard is survived by his six children: Vicki Nielsen (children Tarra (Dylan) Frecon, Elliot and Celeste; Ethan (Rikki) Hayward, Theodore, Scarlet, Harrison; Kathaleen (Colton Easter) Hayward, Liam; Colton (Jody Suidak) Hayward, Cora; Amanda Hayward); Connie (Dean) Martens (children Harlan (Leia) Martens, Michael; Paige (Rhett) Hutt, Kolter and Goldie; Zacariah (Shaelyn Walls) Martens; Dixie Martens; Holly Martens); Mona Buchanan (children Dallas (Logan) Gilliss, Bennett and Payden; Max Buchanan); Ryan (Lenna) Nielsen (children Grace (Halyna Ignatiuk) Nielsen; Kate Nielsen; Zane Nielsen), Maegan Nielsen; Brant (Allison) Nielsen (children Astrid, Soren, Ingrid, and Roland); Lonnie Cameron (children Mason (Kennedy), Nolan, Cole (Greysin), Katie); siblings Fran Passmore; Mike (Ginni) Nielsen; Chris Nielsen (children, Adam and Katherine); Craig (Sheila) Nielsen; Corrine (David) Hutton; sister-in-law, Mary (Dahl) Cannon; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A private family graveside service was held at St. Paul’s Cemetery (south of Wapella, SK)
A public Tea & Celebration of Richard’s life was held at the Wapella School, Wapella, SK. on Monday, February 16, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.
