Robert Andrew Downey
November 21, 1944 ~ June 21, 2022
Robert passed away peacefully on June 21, 2022, at his home in West Kelowna, BC, after a long battle with cancer that began in 2018. He was predeceased by his wife, Karen (Judd) Downey, in 2010.
Robert spent time in BC, Manitoba, and Alberta throughout his life. He wore many hats over the years, working in the logging industry, farming, and construction. Robert earned a carpentry certificate by challenging the exams. After starting his company, C & C Workshop, in DeBolt, he gained a reputation as a proficient craftsman in the community. Robert could build anything from backyard sheds to barns, furniture in any size or scope, and wooden children's toys. He made easels for local artists and frames for their art. Anything he constructed was built to last a lifetime, so it is likely that some DeBolt families still own and use a C & C Workshop creation. In addition, Robert was an active community member; he volunteered with many local organizations, including the Cranberry Lake Rodeo Society and the Grande Prairie Little Theatre.
Per his final wishes, no formal ceremony was held. His remains were interred at the Tilston Cemetery alongside Karen. Anyone desiring to remember Robert may donate to the Canadian Cancer Society in his name.
