Sarah Baker Obituary

Sarah Ann Baker of Melita, Manitoba passed away on Monday, May 20th, 2024 at the Melita Health Centre at the age of 88.

Sarah was born on January 25th, 1936 in Poplar Point, Manitoba. She was one of ten children born to James and Letitia (Pritchard) Park. While attending Normal School, Sarah met Eugene Baker. They were married on April 18, 1957, in Poplar Point, Manitoba. She dedicated her life to being a fantastic mother to three children, Patti,Tab, and Tim. Sarah was passionate about reading and sharing her love of education with her family. Sarah was fond of birdwatching, solving Cryptograms and cheering on the Winnipeg Jets. She delighted in watching her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids in any activity they pursued. She was proud of each one of them. Sarah enjoyed afternoon visits with her best friend Joan Fletcher and her sister Ethel.

Sarah is survived by her daughter, Patti (Tom) Lewis; son, Tab (Marina) Baker; siblings Tom (Dorynne) Park, Florence (Alvin) Tully, Nell Tully, Keith (Rose) Park; brother-in-law, Wes Tully; sister-in-law, Linda Park; daughter-in-law, Marcie (Chris) Sitko; grandchildren, Melissa (Dustin) Hill, Justin (Kelly) Lewis, Tyson (Danielle) Lewis, Derek (Leah) Baker, Steven (Krystal) Baker, Amanda (Dustin) Ness, Alex (Fergus Branton) Baker, Sydney (Nolan Wozny) Baker; twelve great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene Baker; her parents, Letitia and James Park; son, Tim Baker; siblings, Ethel Dobbyn, Bob Park, Tina Tully, Margaret Turner and Lorne Park; brothers-in-law, Les Turner, Dale Dobbyn, Terry Tully; sisters-in-law, Maxine Brethour, Violet Stewart, Rose Marie Neuman; nephew, Barry Tully; niece, Bertha Hanson.

In accordance with Sarah’s wishes, a private service took place.
