Sarah Evaline (Eva) Muir passed away peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Friday, March 7, 2025 at the Sunset Haven in Carnduff at the age of 94.
Eva, as she was known, was born on September 1, 1930, the third child of Gilbert and Andrina Muir.
She was predeceased by her mother and father; brothers, Kenneth and Ronald; sisters, Grace Muir, Lillian Hammermeister and Pearl Worona; sisters-in-law, Violet Mountney and Gwen Muir; and brother-in-law, Harry Hammermeister.
She is survived by her brother, Cyril (Ruth) Muir; brother-in-law, Lawrence Worona; sisters, Kathy (Ed) Smith, Sharon (John) Plett and Sheila (Alois) Boermann; nieces, Sandra (Dave) Hales, Cynthia Muir, Nancy (Derek) Simms, Donna (Patrick) Ackerman, Lorey (Sheldon) Appelle, Brenda (Michael) Carlson, Darlene Smith, Patricia Smith, Janna (Michael) Christensen, Twilah (Dave) St. Cyr; nephews, Brian Muir, Curtis (Janet) Muir, Garry Muir, Alan Muir, Dale Muir, Kevin Muir, David (Liz) Hammermeister, Andy Worona, John (Candice) Plett, Harley (Karalyn) Boermann and their families; twelve great-nieces, fourteen great-nephews, and eight great-greats.
Eva was born in Winnipeg, MB. News of her birth was announced on the radio so her grandparents back in Saskatchewan could hear about her safe arrival. She took her schooling in the Oxbow area up until Grade 11 and graduated Grade 12 from Caronport, Saskatchewan. She started her training to become a teacher in Winnipeg, MB. She taught in schools in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and British Honduras. She retired from teaching in Carnduff in 1988 as a Special Ed. Teacher. She spoke often of her experiences in British Honduras and considered this as the highlight of her teaching years.
Eva was a great support to her family, paying for education for some and helping in their career choices. She took time off to help her mother in the care of her grandmother, helped care for her sister and then her mother. She then took her sister Grace to live with her and they were great companions for each until Grace passed away at Sunset Haven in 2004. Eva loved playing games and working with her hands. She made many Bible book marks which were shared with many Missions all around the world.
Eva accepted the Lord as her Savior at an early age and her Lord was the main focus of her life and she did all she could to bring glory and honour to Him.
She will be missed by family and friends all over the world. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Sunset Haven for their care of Eva in her final days.
The funeral service for Eva was held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Carnduff, SK. on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. Eva's brother-in-law, John Plett served as Funeral MC and Mr. Randy Logue delivered the message. The interment followed at the Oxbow Cemetery.
