Willa Green Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Willa Mabel Green. She peacefully passed away at the nursing home in Ste. Anne, Manitoba on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at the age of 98.

Willa was born in Carnduff, Saskatchewan on September 29, 1924, and was a twin and the eldest of her six siblings. She was a caring and devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all.

Willa taught school in the Newlyn area. She married Norman Green in 1948 and farmed in the Gainsborough area. She loved playing music and cards and was a fabulous cook and homemaker. She moved to Ste. Anne, Manitoba (2006), after Norm, the love of her life, passed away in 2002. She cherished watching her five grandchildren growing up to be adults and later enjoyed seeing and playing with her nine great grandchildren.

Willa was predeceased by her parents, John & Mabel Hamilton; husband, Norman; brothers, William (Bill) & Murray; sisters, Meryl Fyfe, Thelma Earl & Roberta Tucker; brothers-in-law, Hugh Fyfe, Ed Tucker & Jack Rathgeber.

Willa is survived by sister, Nell Rathgeber; brother-in-law, Arnold Earl; sister-in-law, Shirley Hamilton; two daughters, Donna (Brynley) Bennett and Joanne (Ed) Bennett; grandchildren, Penny (Rob) Lesage, Colleen (Ron) Rivard, Dallas (Stephanie) Bennett, Theresa Bennett, Curtis Bennett; great grandchildren, Cassidy & Carter Lesage, Jessie & Lucas Rivard, Ariel, Paige & Chase Bennett, Sarah Bennett, Hanna Bennett; numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Willa was held at St. Andrew's United Church, Carnduff, SK. on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Susan Reed officiating. Interment followed at the Carnduff Cemetery.

St. Andrew's United Church will live stream the service on their Facebook page.

She will be missed by all that knew her.
