Welcome to the memorial page for

William "Gordon" Southam

March 4, 1935 ~ June 23, 2020 (age 85) 85 Years Old

It with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. William “Gordon” Southam on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

He was predeceased by his parents, Hiram and Molly Southam and his sister, Aileen.

Gordon is survived by his brothers, Doug (Isabelle), Dave (Doris), Stewart and his sister, Ruth (Bill) as well as his children, Carol Southam, Pamela Darling (Terry) and Colleen Limon (Dan Winistok) and grandchildren Avery, Gabriela and Anthony Limon.

Gord loved sports and remained very active into his mid 70’s taking part in curling and softball on a regular basis. He also loved to sing and broke into song whenever the mood struck him, which was often! Car rides were often filled with singing along to Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jr. among others. Gord had a lovely singing voice and was a dedicated and active member of The Winnipeg Golden Chordsmen for over 49 years, serving as the Chapter’s House and Wardrobe Manager for many of those years. Gord made many special and lifelong friends through his involvement with the Barbershoppers, friendships that he cherished greatly. Some of our fondest memories was watching our dad on stage at the annual Barbershopper’s ‘show’ where he beamed with absolute joy. Gord was a long time Winnipeg Blue Bomber season ticket holder, even getting his seat from the old stadium framed when it closed down. He loved going to the games and supporting his team. He also loved spending time with friends, fishing at his cottage in the Whiteshell.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at the St. Boniface and Seven Oaks Hospitals for their kindness and taking exemplary care of our dad.
