Mr. Orville Block of Gainsborough, SK. passed away peacefully at the Gainsborough Health Centre on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at the age of 89.
Orville Lyle Block was born in Gainsborough to Adolph and Laura Block on December 3rd, 1930. He devoted his life to the family farm where he actively worked right up to his 80th year. A dedicated community volunteer - he served for several decades on both School Boards, the Agriculture Society and the Rural Municipality. In 2006, he was honoured with the Governor General’s medal for community service.
He leaves to mourn sons, Wayne (Sue) and Ron (Betty-Ann); daughters, Darlene and Jo-Anne (Garth); daughter-in-law, Carol Block; several grand and great-grandchildren and his cherished companion, Joyce Neff.
He was predeceased by his grandson, Chad; wife, Dorothy; son, Delbert; sister, Vivian Redpath.
A public graveside service was held on Saturday, September 19th, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gainsborough Cemetery.
