Very sad to hear this. I have fond memories as a kid hanging out in Melita with my Aunt's and Uncles. I would always call Doug, Uncle Doug, even though he was my cousin. In 1976 I left Ottawa to become rich and famous but ended up in Melita for a few months and spent all my time helping Doug on the farm. Being a city Rube, he had a lot of patience with me, let me try my hand at farming and I just remember he was always calm and easy going, One memory in particular was learning to drive a standard truck, it had a box that was like a dump truck. Doug would load a round bail into it, then I would drive out to the pasture to dump it. I cut the strings and used the truck to roll it out, but had to be fast as the cows were running to me. I had a lot of fun hanging out at the farm.

I was fortunate to visit Melita with my brother about 5 years ago and stayed with Doug, Again so many memories flooding back on that trip.
