My sincerest sympathy to all of Elwin's family. Our community has truly lost a great man. He was a true friend and neighbour, We have lost a true historian who was full of so many wonderful stories. Elwin always had time to stop and visit and always welcomed you into his home. He loved his family, his horses, their garden, his guitar and singing and so much more. I have very fond memories of his wine making skills and his willingness to always share all of these things. I offer you comfort in the wonderful memories you have to share and I know Elwin has reached "the Mansion Just Over the Hilltop".

My condolences to your family. Elwin was a significant part of my childhood and young adulthood. After we moved to Alberta, we could always count on a loving visit, smiles, laughter, and stories when we came home to Frobisher to visit. He will be dearly missed.

Some of my best memories as a child were with the Byers clan and spending my summers with Uncle Elwin and Auntie Isobel. Always loved to hear him sing and play his guitar. Those were special moments that we will hold in our hearts. His big heart radiated kindness towards people and animals alike. We loved the tours of the garden and have a growing patch of their strawberries in our yard that we thoroughly enjoy. His legacy lives on in our hearts, we miss him dearly, but look forward to seeing him again in heaven.
